TA/GA Appointment Processing for Fall 2020

There has been recent communication from UHR with direction on processing TA/GA Appointments for the Fall 2020 semester. Due to the hiring freeze, a few changes have been implemented to process these types of appointments:

TA/GA Reappointment's can be processed as normal if:

  • The student held a TA or GA appointment in Spring 2020
  • The student holds an "Active" TA or GA appointment in HCM in your department

New TA/GA appointments must be processed as an Exception. Please complete the Exception Request Form and submit to your Divisional Directors of Administration. These requests would be for:

  • Students who are new to your department and are receiving their first TA or GA appointment
  • Students who may have held TA or GA appointments in the past in your department but have been terminated in HCM

Departments will need to notify SAS-HR and copy their DDA's with those students who will be reappointed for Fall 2020. Reappointment's will then be processed in the appointment portal. If new appointments were entered into the portal, they will be rejected back to the department pending Chancellors's Office approval. Otherwise, please wait to process new appointments until Chancellor's Office approval is obtained. The approval must then be uploaded in the attachments field before the appointment will be approved by Personnel.
